NEWS: Nick Cave's music adapted into darkly comedic Musical, Murder Ballads, comes to Sale's Waterside.

Darkly comic cabaret musical, MURDER BALLADS, comes to Waterside

Adapted from the cult album by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Murder Ballads is the perfect Halloween treat!

Meet the regulars of O’Malley’s Bar, Millhaven, West Texas, 1882. The town has not been the same since a Stranger turned up at the Lee family cabin and left without a trace. The curse of the Stranger ripples through the town; Mary Lee thinks she’s herself from 16 years ago, Stephen Lee starts calling himself Stagger Lee and turns into a murdering brute, and little Lottie is the prime suspect in a string of violent murders…

Liverpool based company The B Collective bring Murder Ballads to Waterside for one night only. The show is conceived as a hybrid of music theatre and cabaret, and consists of four actor-musicians.

For those who enjoy fast-paced, high-energy gig and cabaret theatre with a darkly comic twist then this is the perfect show. Expect betrayals, bar brawls and blood baths, and the highest death count you’ll experience at the theatre!

êêêêê “A high octane, all guns blazing spectacle that should be seen by all audiences” – SG Fringe
êêêê “Energetically performed by a talented quartet” – British Theatre
êêêêWild and Raucous Fun” – Miro Mag
Taking Nick Cave’s cult album only as a starting point, Murder Ballads weaves its darkly comic tales together so skilfully that the songs and the stories seem always to have belonged together. For a couple of hours, we really are transported to a small west Texan town in the days of the Old West. This production’s charismatic leads hold the audience throughout, while the tales linger long in the mind.” – Joe Moran, Guardian Columnist
