West Midlands-based theatre company Clown Funeral are thrilled to announce that they are newly Supported Artist of Greenwich Theatre in South East London.
Greenwich Theatre will be the site of relaunch for Clown Funeral’s latest show, ‘A Pattern of Bad Behaviour’ (APOBB), in 2021. A darkly comic thriller described as ‘Fight Club meets The Office’, APOBB tells the story of 2 people who meet in a car park and decide to have a fight. The show toured to VAULT Festival and Worcester University in early 2020 before being cut short due to the pandemic. The Supported Artist status means that Greenwich Theatre will support Clown Funeral with free rehearsal space, artistic support, and will facilitate a new R&D project in early November, amongst other exciting opportunities.Sam George, Director of Clown Funeral, said
“We love Greenwich Theatre, it’s a brilliant place which has supported the development of so many young theatre companies. We can’t wait to start the next chapter of our career with their support.”
The new Supported Artist relationship is the latest collaboration between Greenwich and Clown Funeral, as the company first appeared at Greenwich in 2018 with ‘Things We Chose To Save’, a show depicting a dystopian future where two sisters face off against a shady corporation that stores and sells private memories. Following the COVID-19 lockdown, Greenwich re-streamed this performance as part of their Flashback Fridays initiative, looking back at fantastic performances at the theatre over the years.
Artistic Director of Greenwich Theatre, James Haddrell, has said that:
“After what has proved to be the worst year for theatre for decades, there is nothing more rewarding than being able to support some of the most exciting emerging talents and to look to the future. Having hosted the company’s work in the past and loved it, we are delighted to be developing our relationship with Clown Funeral and inviting them to join our line-up of supported companies.”
A Pattern of Bad Behaviour plays at Greenwich theatre on the 13th March 2021.
