BOOK REVIEW: A Christmas Eve Tale

TITLE: A Christmas Eve Tale
AUTHOR: Simon Mortimer
PUBLISHED BY: AuthorHouse Uk

This delightful magical Christmas tale will bring the Christmas feeling to all the family.

Told in rhyme this is a lovely story relating how Santa and his reindeer are on their way on Christmas Eve to deliver presents and enjoy the treats the family have left for them.

The story conveys the anticipation of Santa’s visit and the magic in the air; readers will feel the expectation and the magical atmosphere the story creates.

This is an enchanting book for parents and grandparents to read to their children and grandchildren during the build-up to Christmas; it is also suitable for older children to read themselves; it’s perfect to read on Christmas Eve and would also be an ideal inclusion in a Christmas Eve box.

I liked the words and terminology used throughout the book; there were no lengthy words or words which young children might not understand.

The book is beautifully presented with superb attention to detail; large colourful illustrations are on nearly every page, with smaller images interspersed throughout, ideal for youngsters to become absorbed in whilst the story is being read to them.

The wipe-clean front and back covers are an additional bonus, ideal for parents reading it to children with sticky fingers.

This book really brings home the spirit of Christmas, particularly Christmas Eve which is a magical time for youngsters. It is the perfect length for little ones and a brilliant read for getting everyone in the festive mood.

Readers young and old will love the ending; the build-up is suitably paced and happily it doesn’t become monotonous with repetition; it also has just the ideal amount of suspense to create a genuine feeling of joy at the end.
