An entertaining story with a twist and a fabulous ending; what’s not to love?
It's hard not to feel sorry for hero,
Bob; he lives an unremarkable life; watching Strictly Come Dancing is the
highlight of his week, but one evening after falling asleep just after the
programme finishes, something strange happens and his life is turned upside
down when he is abducted by alien blobs. Bob and the entire human race are harvested by the Blobs for food. Bob's
handler, Fred, befriends Bob, and the two of them try to change the legal
status of humans, from food to intelligent life.
This is a humorous tale very much
along the lines of 'Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy', which also appears to
take inspiration from tales from the late Sir Terry Prachett; readers will
really feel for Bob and Fred and genuinely root for them to win.
This story tells of alien blobs who view earth as a farm where most
people are food; It is a quirky story; some readers may be put off reading it
due to the continual swearing contained in it but readers who appreciate
an easy read with quirky humour and strong language will enjoy this crazy tale
which includes super-intelligent alien blobs, humans as food and basically, the dawning
of the end of the world.
It is a very clever story with interesting, well-developed
characters plus the banter between the characters and the funny situations in
the middle of a little bit of action and danger gives the book an added bonus.
It is absurd, stupid and completely surreal and similar
books popular with readers who enjoy this genre will thoroughly relish it.
Although the ending is somewhat predictable, it was an easy,
fun-to-read book, which is well worth taking the time out to read; it kept me laughing all the way
through.
Although
this story is not for everyone, I think readers who stay 'til the end will be
glad they did.
