BOOK REVIEW: The Superhero In All Of Us: Christmas Is Even Better Twice

TITLE: The Superhero In All Of Us: Christmas Is Even Better Twice
AUTHOR: Zoe Wheeler
PUBLISHED BY: Olympia Books

This heart-warming story is book two in the children's book series 'The Superhero in All Of Us', with a suggested reading age for children aged five to seven years. It was written for the author’s son, Joshua, who found bedtime stories a little upsetting when he was young because he had two homes and in the majority of children's books, this isn't the case.

This is a contemporary story of a young boy who has a mummy, a step mummy and a daddy; as blended families are becoming more of a norm nowadays this story will be relevant to a lot of youngsters.

I was drawn to the book by the vibrant illustrations on the front cover and the brightly coloured illustrations inside which bring the story to life; the images really catch the eye and tell the story very well.

This is a very enjoyable read for early readers about a little boy and the magical lead up to Christmas. There are so many exciting things to do at Christmastime and Joshua is lucky enough to do them all twice.

It is a beautiful story of strength, love, family, and how one little boy found the power to be brave in this big, wide, modern world.

It is relatable, well-written and fabulously illustrated with very amusing pictures which children will get lost in.

The book’s compact size makes it manageable for a child with small hands to hold. Plus, it has easy to slide pages which make it easier for small hands eagerly wanting to turn over to the next part of the story to handle. An added bonus is the wipe-clean front and back covers, ideal for parents reading the story to children with sticky fingers.

This is a delightful book for parents and grandparents to read to their children and grandchildren during the build-up to Christmas, especially if they are in the same situation as Joshua; it’s also perfect for a Christmas Eve box.

The story is quick-paced and fun; ideal for young readers who will love the Superhero theme.
