Chill Out at Rush Hour in Rochdale

Thursday November 7thMusic: 5.30pm - 6.15pmVenue: Foyer Space, Rochdale Leisure Centre, Entwisle Road, OL16 2HZ RochdaleFree entry, no ticket required

A great way for people to unwind at the end of a busy day, to avoid the busy rush hour period and to hear some great new music, Rush Hour Social started at The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, and has now been extended to Rochdale in partnership with Rochdale Music Service. Rush Hour Social Rochdale is a platform for emerging singer-songwriters of all ages, based in and around the GreaterManchester area.

The next performance, on Thursday November 7th, is by Manchester-based guitarist and singer-songwriter Ben Williams. Ben started playing guitar as a teenager inspired by song-writinggreats including Paul Simon, Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell. After working for years on other peoples’ projects, refining his song-writing craft and supporting artists on tours and at festivals around the world including South By South West, Ben woke up one day and randomly wrote a song by and for himself. That song, ‘Change It’, opened the floodgates to writing many more and encouraged him topursue his solo endeavours as a singer-songwriter. This is a chance to hear his music in an informal and relaxed setting.

These acoustic sessions are taking place monthly on Thursday evenings 5.30pm – 6.15pm in the foyer space at Rochdale Leisure Centre. The sessions provide paid opportunities for emerging artists to try out original material in front of a supportive audience.
