GASTRONOMY REVIEW: Due Amici - Walkden, Salford.

Let's not beat around the bush. This restaurant wows. Their food is amazing. Their service superb.

Arriving at Due Amici in the centre of Walkden on a busy saturday evening, and from the moment we entered to the moment we left, everything about this restaurant was simply first class.

The table service is smart, efficient, polite, speedy, and yet not obtrusive or pushy. Very professional. Whilst the comprehensive menu is one where you could simply go each time and work your way through dish by dish. There simply wasn't anything on there that didn't seem mouthwateringly delicious. I watched the waitresses serving other tables, and every plate that went by looked and smelt divine.

We ordered goat's cheese in breadcrumbs with caramelised onion as a starter. It was utterly delicious, cooked to perfection, and a very generous portion. As a main course I had roast duck cooked with black cherries (a combination I had never heard of before). whilst my companion chose a lamb shank. The meat fell from the bone, cooked to perfection, and both the lamb and duck were again, unbelievably generous portions. Both were served with roasted potatoes and boiled vegetables.

We'd have loved to have stayed for a dessert, but we simply didn't have room... oh well, there's always next time!

I have visited many Italian restaurants in Greater Manchester over the years, but Due Amici has easily become my number one. They just couldn't put a foot wrong. Yes, we'll most certainly be back. Highly recommended!
