THEATRE REVIEW: Hair - Teatro Casa Grande - Rio De Janiero, Brazil.

This was the 2010 production of Hair, performed at the Teatro Casa Grande in Rio De Janiero, Brazil.

Sadly both sound and visual quality of the recording was very poor, and was made from a person seated at the rear of the auditorium, and so I am assuming was an amateur video. There were very few close-ups and the videographer didn't really seem to know which part of the stage or which performer to focus on either sadly. The images were blurred or out of focus and the sound muffled.

That being said however, the performance itself was absolutely excellent. This cast had hit the nail fairly and squarely on the head. They captured the era's zeitgeist to perfection and their 'playing' with the audience was a delight. All were triple-threats and all impressed greatly.

The cast were young, vibrant, enagaging, and totally committed, with the help of solid and imaginative direction, which still stayed very true to the original concept, with a strong emphasis on comedy and fun.

The production was in Portuguese, even with the songs being translated into their native language, and so it was a good job I knew the show well! Sadly though I do not have a cast list so am unable to credit anyone. I truly wish the video had been better, but, no matter, I was still able to get a very good overall feel for this show, and had I been there live I feel sure I would have enjoyed it so much more.
