This show was nominated Leicester Comedy Festival Best Children's Show 2018 and features swords, duels, elephants and castles built of cheese - and all of it is completely and irrefutably true!
Rated by ThreeWeeks mag as one of their top three Children's shows to see in 2018 and suitable for age seven and older.
"All of the show was brilliant!" (Festmag).
"Bonkers and magnificent! Best children's show I have seen at The Fringe" (Euen, Facebook).
"Excellent!" (BBC Radio Leicester).
This Way Up on Saturday 6 July at 6pm and Sunday 7 July at 11am at Salford Arts Theatre is aimed at introducing a younger audience (from the age of three) to theatre for the very first time.
The story focuses on a young father (Andy Long), who has just moved and does not have time to play with his daughter. But then all the cardboard boxes come to life and Andy is joined on stage by four puppeteers - Sam Kerr-Baxter, Hayley Warner, Beth Nolan and Jonathan Hunter. The story is told through puppetry and music without any words.
Lucy Padwick, of Foxtail Theatre, said: "It is very immersive. There is a lot going on. Everything is made of cardboard. There is so much cardboard on stage. I think we had 50 boxes last time. I always handmade the puppets myself. We've got a polar bear, we've got snakes and a box dog, who is sort of the companion to dad throughout the story.
"All the boxes become different things. It's based on the idea that you can make anything out of a cardboard box. It is tapping into that childhood memory that when you got a toy at Christmas sometimes the box is more interesting than the toy. We want to play on that and bring out the child in everyone."
Other children's shows include Mama G's Storytime Roadshow 13-14 July 4pm at King's Arms and My Bottom Did A Burp in Class 22-24 July 1pm at Hope Aria House.
