NEWS: Embarrasssment or Madness? at The Greater Manchester Fringe Festival

Paul Putner's Embarrassment – Me and Madness (The Band)

It's the ruby anniversary of Madness and Paul Putner celebrates the past 40 years as a lifelong fan. It is the story of a young, obsessive, nutty boy who took his passion for Madness one step beyond.

Paul Putnr's Embarrassment, Me and Madness, 20-21 July at the King's Arms in Salford, features tales of freaky fandom, demented dancing, dodgy haircuts and glorious gigs. Heartfelt and honest, relish some of the embarrassing moments too and discover what happened when he finally met his heroes.

Since graduating from LAMDA in 1988, Paul has appeared on Alexei Sayle’s Merry Go Round and was the Curious Orange on This Morning With Richard Not Judy. He has also been on BAFTA nominated and award-winning shows such as Look Around You, Spaced, 15 Storeys High, Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle and Little Britain.

He is no stranger to television drama either, appearing in series such as Downton Abbey, Holby City, The Bill, Foyle’s War, Rock And Chips and The Borgias. Paul more recently acted opposite Sir Michael Gambon in The Nightmare Worlds Of HG Wells.

Radio credits include: Cabin Pressure, The Now Show, Kevin Eldon Will See You Now, Self Storage, The Day The Music Died and Little Britain.

Cinema credits include A United Kingdom, Kidulthood, Churchill: The Hollywood Years, Shaun Of The Dead, St Trinians 2: The Legend Of Finton’s Gold, Moonraker, Large and a lead role in Paris Je’t’aime; the film that opened the Un Certain Regard selection at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival.

'Truly a class act' (Chortle.co.uk) 'Wonderful!' (Metro) 'One of the funniest spectacles on the Fringe' (Guardian).

Tickets are available here.
