NEWS: Shakespeare gets a makeover fro Greater Manchester Fringe Festival

Shakespeare's Sonnets will be given a dramatic makeover by Israel's Thespis Theatre Troupe at Whitefield Garrick 10-11 July 2019, as part of Greater Manchester Fringe.

The sonnets are transformed into dramatic pieces with music and dance - see video below. Some are addressed to a young man; some to a mysterious lady, while others look at loneliness, old age and the forces of nature.
Thespis Theatre Troupe was founded in 2015 by Meir Ben Simon, who has garnered rave reviews for his work as a director and hosted a special event within the Loving Chekhov Festival in Ha-Cameri Theatre of Tel-Aviv.

Meanwhile Shrew is a controversial modern day adaptation of Taming of the Shrew features drag kings and gangsters as Kate is trafficked into a forced marriage on Saturday 27 July at Salford Arts Theatre. Mrs Pankhurst's Players emerged from the drama programme at Edge Hill University in Ormskirk.

Feminist comedian Gillian English from Canada reveals 10 Things I Hate About Taming of the Shrew 28-30 July at the King's Arms in Salford. This is a preview of her Edinburgh Fringe comedy show that has already had rave reviews and been nominated for awards at Brighton Fringe.

Tickets for Shakespeare's Sonnets are on sale here.
