Ahoy, me hearties! Octagon Theatre Bolton is searching for adventurous, young buccaneers to be a part of Treasure Island
Octagon Theatre Bolton are looking to cast 24 young people between the ages of 9 – 18 to play the roles of the Pirates and ensemble in the Octagon’s 2019 festive production ofTreasure Island that will be performed at The University of Bolton Stadium.
The classic tale of buccaneers and buried gold will be sailing into Bolton this Christmas in a rip-roaring new stage adaptation of Treasure Island. Grownups never pay attention to children like Jim Hawkins. Stuck working in the family Inn, Jim is longing for adventure…could this be the day something exciting finally happens? When Jim meets a mysterious seafaring gentleman, adventure calls and it looks like there might be gold on the horizon. But once they set sail, things start to look dangerous. Will Jim and friends escape from a gruesome gang of pirates and make their way back to dry land with the treasure?
Treasure Island will be directed by Tim Jackson and is based on the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. This will be a new stage adaptation with Book by Kate Ferguson and Music and Lyrics by Susannah Pearse. The production will be packed with original music performed by a gang of brilliant actor musicians and a fantastic young company.
To apply to be in the young company, confidence in acting and singing is essential as there will be acting, singing and movement involved within the roles. The production will run from Thu 5 – Sat 28 December 2019 and there will be two teams who will appear in the production on alternate days throughout the run and the roles will be unpaid.
Two audition workshops will be held at the University of Bolton Stadium on Wed 4 and Thu 5 September. The sessions will be led by Director Tim Jackson.
