Northern Chamber Orchestra
bring stunning string music to West Didsbury and Chester
Musicians from the Northern Chamber Orchestra (NCO)
bring four string quartet concerts to West Didsbury and Chester in February and
May 2022. Artistic director Nicholas Ward (violin) leads the NCO’s principal
string players in performances that feature works by such celebrated composers
as Beethoven, Mozart and Haydn.
The concerts take place on Saturday 12 February 7.30pm and Saturday 28 May 7.30pm in the beautiful surroundings of Christ Church in West Didsbury, Manchester, and Sunday 13 February 1.30pm and Sunday 29 May 1.30pm at Storyhouse in Chester, the first time the NCO have played in the city. February’s concerts include works by Haydn, Beethoven and Dvořák, while the concerts in May feature works by Rossini, Beethoven, and Mozart. The musicians making up the quartets are the principal string players of the Northern Chamber Orchestra, and all are distinguished chamber musicians, who regularly appear as soloists in their own right.
Formed in the late 1960s, the Northern Chamber Orchestra is one of the country’s top chamber orchestras. The orchestra holds its main concert season in Macclesfield’s Heritage Centre, is the Orchestra in Association at Manchester’s Stoller Hall, and performs regularly in Buxton and other venues across the North of England.
Tickets for the concerts are available now from the NCO’s website; visit www.ncorch.co.uk
