ONLINE MONOLOGUE REVIEW: In Which God Starts A Self-Help Group - The Lockdown Theatre Company

After watching the vast majority of the monologues in The Lockdown Theatre Company's ongoing series of shorts filmed and uploaded on their YouTube channel, this one is one of Rohan Candappa's more mature scripts.

Performed by Michael Eaves (God), we are present at the first meeting of a self-help group which he has set up "Dieties' Anonymous". With good use of humour, and a little tongue-in-cheek (but not overly so), this is God's way of apologising for all the many cock-ups he has made with earth and its inhabitants. This is God's excuse to unburden himself, ego-permitting, adulation-foresaking, to admit that he, in his own words, has screwed up.

"You look at yourself in the mirror, and have to admit to yourself that you're not right all of the time."

Eaves proves to be the perfect actor for this role. His mannerisms and voice work excellently with the script and his self-deprecating manner is delightful.
