ONLINE CHILDREN'S THEATRE REVIEW: There's A Bear On My Chair - Little Angel Theatre Company.

Another wee gem from the collaboration between Nosy Crow Theatre and Little Angel Theatre.

Here, streamed live this morning on YouTube, we see the short poem storybook by Ross Collins brought to life quite expertly. We are shown a prosc.arch theatre, we see animals enter to take their places to watch the play, and we hear the orchestra tuning up. It puts us all in a good frame of mind and we settle daon.

Enter a large polar bear who sits down on the only chair on stage. A tiny mouse enters declaring, "There's a bear on my chair!". And with everything from then on rhyming with bear / chair, the tiny mouse tries everything in his power to remove the bear from the chair, becoming more and more angry with each futile attempt. We laugh. The mouse exits in disgust! Just then the bear decides he will get off the chair and go back home across the snow and ice of the Arctic to his igloo house. A lovely little change of both rhyme and thought occurs here and the story finishes with a sleeping mouse on the bear's bed!

Illustrated, read and performed by Toby Olie and Laura Cubitt with apt and easy-to-listen-to music by Adam Pleeth, this was a faithful and delightful re-enactment of Ross Collins's poetic children's story.
