Lighthouse autumn season takes shape as new shows announced
Having experienced brisk sales for its programme of live performances this autumn Lighthouse, Poole’s centre for the arts, is pressing ahead with the next phase of new shows now that indoor performances are permitted with social distancing.
As previously announced, available seats will have at least a one-metre clear radius around them as Lighthouse has secured ‘We’re Good to Go’ status and industry standard kitemark and is implementing COVID-security measures to ensure the safety of audiences, artists and staff alike.
The new shows are:
Live & Unheard. Thursday 12 November, Theatre. 7.30pm. Our monthly unsigned music night returns with headliner Lee Rasdall-Dove backed by a full band for the first time in four years. He’ll be following the psychedelic offerings of singer songwriter Russell Starmore an d country-pop songstress Nia Nicholls who has released five singles over the last 12 months.
Coastal Comedy. Saturday 14 November, Theatre. 8pm. Topping the bill is Troy Hawke, the creation of character comedian Milo McCabe. He’s an erudite home-schooled 1930's throwback... the Errol Flynn of the high street. Educated, sophisticated, but utterly clueless he tackles modern issues head on in his uniquely untimely manner. Opening the show is the hilarious Jim Campbell who has been busy with a chart-topping podcast, an acclaimed book and his personal life exploding. Emergin talent up Nathan Eagle completes the bill with regular compere Adrienne Coles.
They join the shows already announced: Magellan – Circumnavigation (2 Oct), Live and Unheard (8 Oct), Derek Nash (9 Oct), Coastal Comedy (10 Oct), The National Trust Fan Club (22 Oct), Art Themen & Laura Jurd (23 Oct) and Jess Fostekew’s Hench (24 Oct).
Tickets are also on sale for the September cinema season - the first films to be shown at Lighthouse since the building went into lockdown on 17 March.
Now booking are: Misbehaviour (12A) 17, 23 Sept; Summerland (12A) 17, 22, 24 Sept; Military Wives (12A) 18, 22 Sept; Little Women (U) 18, 30 Sept; Love Sarah (12A) 23 Sept, 1 Oct; Encore: Andrew Rieu: Magical Maarstricht (NC) 24 Sept; Hope Gap (12A) 25, 30 Sept; Portrait of a Lady On Fire (15) 25 Sept, 1 Oct; Parasite (15) 29 Sept; Encore: Kinky Boots (12A) 29 Sept.
