NEWS: More new live shows go on sale - Lighthouse, Poole.

Lighthouse announces latest new shows to go on sale this week 

As Lighthouse, Poole’s centre for the arts, prepares to reopen its doors to the public on Wednesday at 10am it is delighted to be able to reveal the latest additions to its 2021 programme. 

This time the emphasis is on music with a special date featuring Scottish legends Wet Wet Wet and the spring season of Studio Jazz takes shape, plus there’s a return visit for Moscow Drug Club and early news of a festive treat with a distinctly Irish flavour. 

There’s also the excitement of Strictly Presents: The Power of Dance, the latest show to feature Strictly Come Dancing professionals. 

The full line up of shows to go on sale this week is: 

• Studio Jazz: Alan Barnes & David Newton. Friday 15 January. 8pm. Theatre. Two of the most popular players on UK jazz scene, and no strangers to Lighthouse, Alan (reeds) and David (piano) improvise new interpretations of the Great American Songbook and jazz greats every time they play. 

• Moscow Drug Club. Saturday 30 January. 8pm. Theatre. Combining original material with songs by the likes of Jaques Brel, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen and Eartha Kitt, Moscow Drug Club return to Lighthouse with their intoxicating blend of Berlin Cabaret, Hot Club de France, French Musette and storytelling. 

• Studio Jazz: Gilad Atzmon Orient House Ensemble. Friday 12 February. 8pm. Theatre. Unavoidably delayed by the pandemic, Gilad returns to Lighthouse with a centenary tribute to his first jazz hero – the great Charlie Parker. 

• Studio Jazz: Misha Mullov Abbado Group. Friday 12 March. 8pm Theatre. Featuring some of the hottest young talent on London’s jazz circuit, Misha’s adventurous group explore groove-based swing and funk as well as classical, pop and folk. 

• The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Friday 7, Saturday 8 May. 7.45pm (Sat mat 2.30pm). Theatre. Blackeyed Theatre's thrilling adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s dark psychological fantasy – gripping, stylish and thought-provoking. 

• Strictly Presents: The Power of Dance. Sunday 18 July. 7.30pm. Concert Hall. All-new spectacular as Strictly... professionals Janette Manrara, Dianne Buswell, Amy Dowden and Neil Jones, plus two very special guest stars, tell the story of what it is to be a dancer. 

• Nabil Abdulrashid – N.A.B.I.L. (Nobody Actually Believed I’d Last). Thursday 9 September. 7.45pm. Theatre. After reaching the final of Britain’s Got Talent 2020 (3,000 Ofcom complaints), Nabil Abdulrashid brings his brand-new stand-up show on tour. 

• The Sensational 60s Experience. Sunday 31 October. 7pm. Concert Hall. For one night only five of the biggest names from the Swinging 60s – Mike Pender (the original voice of The Searchers); The Trems (former members of The Tremeloes); Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich; The Fortunes and The Dakotas. 

• Wet Wet Wet. Sunday 14 November, 7.30pm. Concert Hall. After a sell-out tour last year the legendary hitmakers are back out on the road in support of new album, The Journey. 

• Fairytale of New York. Saturday 27 November. 7.30pm. Concert Hall. From the producers of Seven Drunken Nights: The Story of the Dubliners comes the ultimate feel-good Christmas show with an international cast of singers, musicians and dancers. 

Tickets go on pre-sale to Lighthouse Friends only from Wednesday 2 December (except Strictly Presents and Wet Wet Wet which are on sale to Friends only on Thursday 3 December) and on general sale from Friday 4 December. Tickets must be booked in advance at https://www.lighthousepoole.co.uk.
