NEWS: Royal Exchange Young Company shares online monologues via YouTube

MOMENTS OF CONNECTION

ROYAL EXCHANGE THEATRE YOUNG COMPANY CREATE NINE UNIQUE MONOLOGUES DURING LOCKDOWN. 

Written, directed and filmed during Lockdown the Royal Exchange Young Company Writers Group have been busy creating brand-new monologues inspired by the themes of human connection, joy, kindness and compassion. 

Now, these nine short-plays have been captured on film by award-winning professional actors and directors including Julie Hesmondhalgh, Geraldine Somerville, Kudzai Sitima, Miranda Cromwell, Katy Rudd and Atri Banerjee. 

Since the beginning of May the nine-strong group, aged 17-22, have been working with Royal Exchange Theatre’s Dramaturg Suzanne Bell and playwright Joe Ward Munrow to develop their playwriting skills and create an original monologue. These short films are now available to watch on the Royal Exchange’s YouTube channel until Monday 31 August.
