The Place presents
DADDERRS THE LOCKDOWN TELLY SHOW
Frauke Requardt and Daniel Oliver maintain
social distancing by reimagining their 2019 stage show ‘Dadderrs’ within their
own home as a digital boxset
Daniel is dyspraxic and is too slow. Frauke
has ADHD and is too quick. They are married and have kids. Together
they have created a fantastical escapist world in response to their experiences
as neurodiverse parents.
Based on their recent live work, Dadderrs
the Lockdown Telly Show reimagines the awkwardly intimate
and dysfunctional activities of family life within the current
climate. Filmed in their own home, it will be a cross between a
fly-on-the-wall experience of life under lockdown, and a curiously poetic diversion
combining dance, discourse, absurdity and realism. As the nation slowly emerges
from lockdown, Dadderrs the Lockdown Telly Show will
document an era of a strange and alien reality we all lived through.
Working with film maker Susanne Dietz, Requardt and Oliver created
11 episodes, available through The Place’s website and YouTube channels as a
playlist. Together they experiment with what creating art under social
distancing rules may look like, while also contemplating the user journey and
how audiences can interact with digital content.
All 11 episodes will be available as a “box set” on The Place website form 22 July for 30 days. The work will
also be released on Tramway TV on
22 July and Forest
Fringe on 23 July for a limited period, exploring the possibility of digital
touring.
Dadderrs the Lockdown Telly
Show is commissioned and produced by The Place. Supported using Public Funding by
the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
Dadderrs was
originally commissioned by Dance International Glasgow, Sick of the Fringe, The
Place & The Yard Theatre.
