THEATRE REVIEW: What Does An Anteater Eat? - Little Angel Theatre, online.

Available on Youtube until the 1st September, this is a ten minute short for children (aimed at the 2 - 5 age bracket). Made entirely whilst in isolation this is Toby Olie's puppet recreation of Ross Collins' story, 'What Does An Anteater Eat?'.

The animated puppets are delightful, creative, and of very hight quality. The story, simple, easy to understand, and of course 'child friendly'. The story concerns an anteater, what else!, who can't remember what he should eat, and so goes on a quest to ask all the animals he meets if they know what an anteater eats. He meets a busy sloth, a water-melon-eating toucan, a large boa constrictor, a crocodile, some bats, and a leopard who thinks he'd make a nice lunch, until he finally comes across an ant hill. I'll leave the 'punchline' alone, just in case you don't already know the book!

The music throughout is delightful and fits superbly (Adam Pleeth), and even as an fifty-something adult, I still enjoyed this short animation, put together with great skill and mastery. If anyone out there has young children and goodness knows, by now you must be struggling to come up with new ways to entertain them, then this is your next ten minutes sorted!
