ONLINE MONOLOGUE REVIEW: How I Said F*** You To The Company When They Tried To Make Me Redundant - The Lockdown Theatre Company.

Perhaps not quite winning the World's Longest Title competition, 'How I Said "F*** You" To The Company When They Tried To Make Me Redundant" is a lot more interesting and prescient than you might at first imagine.

Matt Ainstrup is a very sympathetic actor, and despite the mundaness of the lines he has been given to speak in this monologue by Rohan Candappa, he makes them sparkle, he makes them interesting, and he brings us cleverly in to his world without ceremony or trick. There is no background (just a plain cream-coloured wall) and there are no sound effects or background music. It's just him, and he makes you want more. His speech pattern is quite fast but always enunciated well and intelligible, and his conversational style easy on the ear.

He recounts, nay eulogises, the chats and banter he has with his three colleagues, all of whom are working in a boring dead-end computer-based job. Much of the time he is bored and feigns to be busy working when the boss is looking [we've all done that!]. But this time it's a little different because the phone rings... he is in an office where the phone never rings... !

Good use of office style humour, and a fun short piece.
