The world’s best-selling compilation album series is heading out on its very own live show tour, transporting the hits of one of the most pop-tastic decades to cities across the UK this November. 80’s DJ legends Gary Davies and Mark Goodier have been announced to present the shows. Gary will be presenting in Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow & Cardiff whilst Mark will host in Leicester. The two will team up to present the London concert!
Currently hosting ‘Sounds of the 80s’ on BBC Radio 2 having taken over the reins from Sara Cox; Manchester’s original superstar DJ Gary Davies first joined the BBC Radio family in 1982. One of the most recognisable voices in broadcasting throughout the 80s he exclusively revealed the UK Top 40 every Tuesday on his lunchtime show and was a regular presenter on Top Of The Pops.
On presenting NOW That’s What I Call The 80s Live:
Gary Davies said: “I’m really pleased to announce that I’ll be presenting NOW That’s What I Call The 80s Live in November! I’ll be teaming up with the iconic album for a concert where you’ll be able to party along to all your favourite songs from the best decade of pop music!”
Hosting London will be Mark Goodier, who has been synonymous with NOW since early 1992, due to being ‘the voice’of the television adverts since their 21stedition. Making his name on BBC Radio 1 from 1987-2002, he spent 9 years presenting the Top 40 singles chart and was also a presenter for the iconic Top of the Pops. Since 2002, he has had a long-standing show on Smooth Radio, and regularly returns to BBC Radio 2.
Mark Goodier said: “Everybody knows and loves the NOW! albums- they are part of the soundtrack of our lives and I can’t wait to see and hear the hits brought to life on the NOW! 80’s tour.”
NOW That’s What I Call The 80s LIVE will see aconcert of throwback fun with the most iconic tracks back-to-back with a power house live show band and sensational singers performing era-defining hits including RELAX, UPTOWN GIRL, IT’S RAINING MEN, GOLD, PURPLE RAIN, LIVIN’ ON A PRAYER, COME ON EILEEN, AFRICA, WAKE UP BEFORE YOU GO-GO, (I’VE HAD) THE TIME OF MY LIFE, THE FINAL COUNTDOWN AND MANY MORE!
Joining the tour will be Sandy Grigelis, Shellyann, Cedric Neal and Paige Brooklyn Cook.
Musical theatre star and judge from the hit BBC show ‘All Together Now’, Sandy Grigelis’ credits speak for themselves; including starring in the UK tours of Sister Act and Buddy Holly: The Musical and the lead vocalist in ‘Get On The Floor’ with Strictly Come Dancing star AJ Pritchard. He will be joined by the winner of BBC One’s ‘All Together Now’, Swansea’s own Shellyann, whose voice Spice Girls’ legend Geri Horner described as ‘incredible and magical’.
Fellow star of the small screen, Cedric Neal swapped acting for singing and reached the semi-finals on The Voice UK 2019 before makinghis West End debut in the acclaimed West End show ‘Motown The Musical’. Now keen to get back onstage, he will be lighting up the stage each night with his easy charisma and wonderful talent.
The quartet will be completed by Paige Brooklyn Cook, who usually can be found tearing up the London music scene with her pop band Voodoo Radio. Along with a number of theatre credits, she has previously supported popstar Jessie J in her own right.
