NEWS: Liverpool based dance company, Movema, offer free dance leader training

Movema, one of the North West’s leading World Dance Companies, is leading FREE training and on the job work experience for individuals looking to kick off a career in the arts.

The Liverpool company Movema are delighted to be working in communities across Merseyside with various projects, including ‘Making Moves’, a bespoke training course for anyone who wants to learn business skills and how to lead dance workshops.

The course is a unique training opportunity that will cover all aspects of teaching and delivering world dance and business skills, including marketing, finance, budgeting organisational and legal. Trainees will also have exclusive access to dance masterclasses with industry professionals.

Director, Ithalia Forel said of the scheme "Each candidate will have their own mentor who will help set personal goals and establish a step-by-step achievement process. In other words, the training is designed by the trainee, for the trainee and we help them achieve it. To top it all, trainees will even get their very own photoshoot!"

Over the ten weeks, the course will run every Thursday, 10am-12pm from September to December 2021 at Toxteth TV, Movema’s hub.

Making Moves is suitable for people aged 19+ who are unemployed and not in education. Movema is dedicated to recruit from diverse communities to ensure that opportunities are available especially to those who experience barriers.

Project Manager, Sheetal Maru says: “The last round of this course was so successful, we just had to run it again! We want to help as many people as possible with a full package of bespoke training that will boost confidence and get people ready for employment, especially after the past year."

Chloe, Making Moves Graduate, said: “The programme has allowed me to grow my confidence in creating and delivering my own dance classes. I feel I have a deeper understanding of my skills and abilities – I know I am far more capable than I initially felt having done this course!”

The course is funded by WEA and ESF.
