NEWS: Poole's Lighthouse hatches Plan B this Christmas.

Poole's Lighthouse may have had to say goodbhye to a pantomime this year, but luckily they have a Plan B for this Christmas... oh yes they do!

In line with many theatres up and down the country, for the first time in its 42-year history Lighthouse, Poole’s centre for the arts, has taken the difficult decision to postpone its traditional family pantomime until next year.
Beauty and the Beast will now be produced in 2021 and audiences can expect a fabulous full-scale show that’s bigger and brighter than ever. Ticket holders are being contacted with the news that all tickets will be valid for next year.
“I understand that this will be a big blow, not only to our audiences and our community, but also to the creative teams and artists who make the production and to our whole staff team,” says Lighthouse Chief Executive Elspeth McBain.
“We have waited as long as we could to make this decision as we know how much our audiences look forward to their annual visit to see our family pantomime, but with no decision on lifting social distancing expected before November it is simply too late for us to be able to create our in-house production and therefore with great sadness we have come to the conclusion that Beauty and the Beast will be postponed.
"However, we are committed to providing an alternative Christmas offer where we can and have a Plan B to be announced later in the year that is very much in the madcap spirit of traditional family festive enertainment.
Meanwhile, Lighthouse is pressing ahead with a carefully selected programme of events this year that can be performed to socially distanced audiences including Lighthouse: OUTSIDE – four Saturdays of live music, theatre comedy and magic performed outdoors in the amphitheatre to the side of the venue on 19, 26 September and 3, 10 October.
