ONLINE VIDEO MONOLOGUE REVIEW: Home Schooling
There will be many parents with teenage children watching this charming monologue who will identify with what the young girl has to say about being Home Schooled during lockdown. Lasting an incredible four months it has been an exhausting experience for everyone.
Mark Davoren’s witty and engaging script provides an alternative view of lockdown from a young person’s point of view and in Yazmin Walker’s cheeky performance there is a lot of fun to be had as the young girl sets her parents against one other in completing homework tasks for her.
I enjoyed watching this monologue, Walker’s performance and interpretation of the role reminded me of both Pandora Brathwaite from Adrian Mole and Hermione Granger from Harry Potter. Running at 1 minute 54 seconds and produced by NWE Live, this monologue is a delight and I hope that Davoren will write other scripts for Walker so she can share more insights into this endearing and whimsical character.
