MUSIC REVIEW: Waiting For Smith: Long Life
The song 'Long Life' by Waiting For Smith is a truly ctachy up-beat toe-tapping tunes in the folk-pop genre based very much on Country music in this instance. Waiting For Smith's ligh-coloured and easy-to-listen-to voice makes the song even more pleasant and the enunciation is clear, making the words more important and memorable.
These are nice lyrics.. life-affirming lyrics about life being long if we don't have friendships, love, support, and even though we may forge out own paths through life, and do what makes us hapy, we need people all the way, and in the end, it's OK, everything is going to be all right.
As a strange foreshadowing of the Covid 19 pandemic, the accompanying video to this song wasa shot in Madrid only weeks before Spain went into lockdown. The song could now not be more relevant or prescient.
I had never heard of Waiting For Smith before this, but I am really taken by this quirky and catchy song, and enjoyed the humorous touch to the video too.

"Waiting For Smith is singer/songwriter Harry Lloyd. Formerly a ski instructor in the French Alps, Lloyd broke his back in two places during avalanche training. Fighting for his life in the helicopter on the way to the hospital he had an epiphany that he should dedicate his life to music. After spending a year in bed recuperating and learning to play guitar, he formed Waiting For Smith, named after endlessly waiting for their original drummer Smith, who always failed to show."
