Three new shows emerge from The Hive 15-20 July
New writers supported by Arts Council and mentors
The time has come for the three Hive winners to reveal their work, 15-20 July, at the King's Arms in Salford, The Way Theatre in Atherton and The Met in Bury.
Stefanie Moore has been mentored by Tim Firth (Calendar Girls) and Mike Heath (Write for the Stage) while developing her debut play Blue Lines, based on her time working in sex education. This play stars Nicole Evans (A Fine Life, GMFringe 2018) and Jenna Sian O'Hara (pictured above by Shay Rowan). Video interview here.
Siân Davies has been mentored by Dave Williams, comedy coach at the Frog and Bucket and an experienced Edinburgh Fringe performer, while developing her debut comedy show About Time, focussing on her eventful gap year.
Punk poet Simon Widdop has been mentored by Ben Moor (Week Ending, Spitting Image, Elastic Planet, Coelacanth, Not Everything Is Significant and A Supercollider for the Family) while developing his debut spoken word show Stained, set in a tattoo parlour.
All three writers won their place at a scratch night in front of judges, that included the mentors and Justin Moorhouse, at Salford Arts Theatre in January and have been supported by Arts Council England.
Siân is also taking working class comedians to Edinburgh Fringe for a showcase called Best In Class, which she comperes.
