Lowry Non-Stop, a month-long programme of free family activities, returns to the Salford arts centre TODAY and runs every day until Saturday 2 September. Celebrating the 100th anniversary of votes for women and taking inspiration from the artists Chantal Joffe and LS Lowry, Lowry Non-Stop features everything from games and storytelling to drawing and drama. Running every day from 11am until 4pm, events include: History Makers – Be Inspired by women who made history and get making in The Lookout, The Lowry’s dedicated Lookout space for families. Artist-Led Painting Workshop – Join artist Michelle Leigh for painting workshops (Wednesdays only) inspired by Chantal Joffe’s exhibition Personal Feeling is The Main Thing. Friends and Family – Artists like LS Lowry and Chantal Joffe often paint their friends and family. Take a closer look at your family and friends by drawing their portraits. Saturday Playhouse Superheroes - Who is your superhero? Make comics, masks and get creative with your favourite heroes. Storytelling and drama – After listening to some exciting stories with strong female characters, why not create your own story. Also taking place at The Lowry this August are the popular shows What the Ladybird Heard and Peppa Pig’s Adventure as well as Now or Never, a contemporary circus production on The Lowry Plaza. In July 2014, The Lowry galleries were renamed The Andrew and Zoe Law Galleries in recognition of the couple’s £1m donation to the arts centre, which is a registered charity. |
